Art Department - Front Loading Kiln
10/28/2020 8:17 am
The new front loading kiln had been delivered, hooked up, and fired off successfully....and it is AWESOME!! It not only increases our capacity to meet the increased enrollment in the Art Department but it gives the students the opportunity to work on a larger scale (see the 'Medusa' head below). It also exposes students to "state of the art" computer controlling. Many schools and artists dream of having this type of kiln and the Art Department thanks the BVW PTO for getting it for the students at Blue Valley West!! THANK YOU

Sources of Strength received a $100 grant from the BVW PTO.
Sources of Strength:
- Through our PTO grant, we are able to have campaigns that impact the entire school by connecting students to hope and strength. Our most recent campaign focused on symbolizing the BVW family. The red strips of paper have every student’s name on one red strip and Sources of Strength linked all of the strips of paper together. Our idea behind this was to show how all of us are family.
- The Sources of Strength mission states: We are a group of diverse students and adults from many different corners and cultures of our school and community. We believe that life has ups and downs, that all of us will go through good times and tough times. Our mission is to ensure that during the rough times no one gets so overwhelmed or hopeless that they want to give up. Our mission is to spread Hope, Help, and Strength into every corner of our community. Our mission is to help students and staff turn to their strengths and their supports that are all around. We are Connectors to Help and Strength. We Spread Hope by focusing on stories of strength, rather than on stories of trauma. We know our most powerful impact comes from our personal actions, conversations, and messages that use our music, our art, our writing, our activities, our social media, our culture, and our voice. This gives life to our efforts.
