The BVW Library received a grant to purchase 15 iTouches. These provide access to half the class, or groups of 2-3 students. The goal is eventually have a 1:1 ratio.
These iTouches are used in Virtual Reality lessons in Science, Geography, U.S. History, World History, Spanish, Frechn, Gifted and Emerging Technology. With VR and AR, students can explore the world from the coral reef to human body systems. With specific apps like Google Expeditions, teachers guide students through the experience.
BVW students love using the VR Headsets and iPod Touches. We receive great feedback from students and teachers about how the VR/AR experiences improve student understanding. In these photo examples, students in Spanish are exploring the Island of the Dolls.

Students Benefit from 3D Laser Cutter
9/9/2018 12:05 pm
BVW PTO purchases a 3D Laser Cutter for use in the library with a $5,100 grant!!
Glowforge is a type of laser cutter that utilizes the concepts of 3D printing. Using leather, wood, or acrylic in the machine, it carves out your product using laser light. Glowforge uses subtractive manufacturing while traditional 3D printers use additive manufacturing. With the instructional pivots occuring, the library becomes a place for students to investigate and create using many resources. Like the current 3D printer used by several classes, our library will use the laster cutter to provide additional options for students to demonstrate their learning in all content areas. The entire building will be able to access and utilize this tool. Thanks to the PTO for providing this opportunity to our students!
